Leana Fischer grew up in Blacksburg, Virginia and received her B. Arch from Virginia Tech in 2009. In the Fall Semester of 2007, she studied abroad in Riva San Vitale, Switzerland at the Virginia Tech Center for European Studies and Architecture.
In the fall of 2009, Leana began a nine month internship with Engineering Ministries International (EMI) in Calgary, Alberta. While an intern with EMI, Leana traveled with volunteer design teams to help with architectural projects in El Salvador and Ethiopia. In 2012, several years after her internship with EMI, Leana co-led a volunteer team to El Salvador to do construction work on the project she helped design there.
Before moving to Fayetteville, Arkansas in the summer of 2013, Leana worked for several years as an architectural intern at Thomas Koontz Architect, PC in Blacksburg, Virginia. During the summer of 2014 she worked at the University of Arkansas Community Design Center, and in January of 2015 she joined deMx Architecture as a Project Manager.
In addition to her architectural work, Leana teaches ceramics and watercolors at the Community Creative Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
